APA Minnesota Chapter Bylaws

Chapter Membership

APA Minnesota is Minnesota's chapter of the American Planning Association, with a membership of approximately 700 planners from around the state. While the chapter is part of the American Planning Association, individual members do NOT need to be members of the national association. That lets you keep up on what is happening in Minnesota and participate in APA Minnesota events without spending much money!

What constitutes Retirement status?

An AICP member qualifies as retired if he or she has been an active and continuous member for at least 10 years is at least 65 years of age; and who does not engage in any profession, business, or trade (this excludes part-time non-planning or nonprofessional work). Retired members are exempt from Certification Maintenance (CM) requirements.

Retirement Status Verifcation Form

Retired member rates are as follows: APA dues $75, Chapter dues $10, AICP (if applicable) $25. All publications and divisions fees are at standard price.

Planners practicing part time or who were retired and return to the workforce must meet the full obligations of Certification Maintenance (CM) unless granted an exemption. More information about exemptions from CM can be found at http://www.planning.org/cm/exemptions.htm.

The AICP designation is both a hard-earned indicator of professional accomplishment and a sign of your continuing connection to and support of planning and its role in creating communities of lasting value.  APA appreciates your past membership and hope you will decide to keep it in force.
